Bach Chamber Youth Choir

Young Adults ages 16-25 (Grade 11* and up)

*Singers with changed voices may be granted early admittance.

The Bach Chamber Youth Choir (BCYC) offers a creative, collaborative, and challenging musical experience. Members enjoy singing a wide variety of repertoire with a friendly group that loves to make music together! The choir has been awarded numerous accolades at the local, provincial and national levels. BCYC also rehearses chamber repertoire for Upper Voices, Lower Voices, and other small ensembles throughout the season.

Schedule: Sundays 6:15pm-9:15pm

Location: St. Barnabas Anglican Church

Prerequisites: By audition and interview; this group performs at a high level and requires a significant annual commitment.

Performances: As part of the Bach Children’s Chorus organization, the BCYC is a highlight at the organization’s twice-yearly concerts at the Meridian Arts Centre. Additional performances include a coffee-house, a gala fundraiser, benefit concerts and collaborations with the other top youth choirs in the city.

Music Theory Support: BCYC members requiring theory tutoring in order to participate in the BCYC ensemble will be expected to attend up to 4 individual or small group sessions per term with a staff member during the BCYC rehearsal.

Sight-Singing Support: BCYC members wanting to improve their sight-singing are encouraged to attend up to 4 individual or small group sessions per term with a staff member during the BCYC rehearsal. This may be a requirement for certain singers, at the discretion of the BCYC Conductor.
