About the program
Choir II emphasizes learning to sing in parts, memorizing numerous songs for performance and becoming proficient in music theory and sight-singing. This ensemble works on solo vocal technique and performs a wide variety of standard choral repertoire. Participation in the A Young Singer’s Journey (YSJ) theory program and weekly sight-singing groups is mandatory and built into the rehearsals.
Weekly work at home with the YSJ books and practicing songs help each singer build skills and confidence in choral music, theory and sight-singing. In the second term, advanced choristers will be invited to form the Choir II Challenge Group, which has the opportunity to rehearse with Choir III from 7:00 to 7:30p.m. Eligibility will be based on participation, vocal development, and theory progress demonstrated in the first term.
